”It is clear... that those who are rich and white will continue to be treated differently to those who are poor.”

This statement alone says a lot about what the general public thinks about the matter.

I don't think any racism is involved in this. South Africa is run by black leaders and the judiciary is not biased as it was during apartheid. This shows a lot of indifference on the part of the authorities to set this man on parole towards the horrific death of a poor worker and public sentiments.

This man was acquitted of murder by an appeal court in Bloemfontein and instead was sentenced to five years behind bars. He already served two-thirds of his sentence making him eligible for parole. But he should have served some more time. At least ten years.

The prosecution in the 2005 trial had failed to prove that the victim Chisale was still alive when he was thrown into the lion enclosure. He had beaten up the man before throwing him in the enclosure. That doesn't constitute murder. It was a technically correct judgement though a sad one.

It is no less than murder because he tied up Nelson Chisale, beat him with machetes and dumped him in a white lion enclosure knowing that the beasts would devour him and he can't help himself out injured and tied. It is also possible that after killing the man he tried to dispose off the body by feeding it to the lions. Either way - GUILTY OF MURDER!

Total miscarriage of justice. He should have faced a life term. Instead he is coming out after serving just over three years. That is a lesser sentence that one should have got for merely assaulting a helpless poor worker. He should be beaten, tied up and fed to the lions.
